Artist Biography

Ask Bags what he wants people to hear when they listen to his music, and the fresh-faced 21 year-old answers, "I want them to see that I'm painting pictures with my words." Angelid Melo aka Bags started rapping to entertain his friends in the eighth grade and pass the time while at school. Shortly thereafter, he realized he could use his words and lines to express his feelings The eldest of two sons, born in the Southside of Jamaica Queens to Dominican parents, Bags dove into music seriously, in 2002, when he started to compile songs for a demo. Winning freestyle battles and performing on low budget tapes, helped Bags aquire respect amongst his peers. While building his buzz, it was then, Bags took notice that his hobby could be turned into a career. Setting the pace for up-and-coming artists, Bags is currently featured on several self-produced mixtapes including "Can't knock the Hustle" and "Crossova Entertainment Presents: Bags". He has also been featured in Indie Streets Latino, a Chicago publication, for his mix-track of Gwen Stefani's "HollaBack Girl" entitled, "I Ain't Gonna Holla Back Girl." This mixed-track got him a few spins at radio stations and local parties. Bags has also been making his rounds as a performer. He has made his debut at such venues as "Club Eleven50" (Atlanta), "Harlem Jimmys" (NYC), "Rikers Island" (NYC), "Club Demerara" (NYC), and the "The Elbow Room"(NYC).
