Artist Biography

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a Grammy Award nominated New York City-based rock band. The band members include lead singer Karen O, drummer Brian Chase, and guitarist Nick Zinner. Their music is a mix of retro styles with heavy rock/punk guitars, synthetic sounds with rhythmic, melodic and bluesy vocals. They formed in 2000 as a trio, and were joined by second guitarist Imaad Wasif in 2006 for touring purposes. According to an interview that aired during the ABC network's Live from Central Park Summerstage series, the name Yeah Yeah Yeahs is a reference to the way New Yorkers speak and their general attitude, often interrupting or agreeing with each other by saying "yeah, yeah, yeah.
